Measure of central tendency

VALUE- A value that represents the center of a data can be the mean, median or mode.

Data st is a group of numbers that must arrange in order from least to greatest.

example-

MEDIAN- The middle number in the set of data after the data have been arrange in the order.

example-

MODE- The most frequently occurring number in a set of data.

Mode and most have 4 letters and the letter M and O in the beginning

MEAN- A measure of central tendency the sum of a set of values divide by the number of values in the set , add up the number and divide that by how many numbers there are.

example-

4,6,8; 4+6+8+=18; 18/3=6

RANGE- The positive difference between the largest and the smallest values in a data set.

example-

9, 8, 8, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4, 3, 1; 9-1=8 biggest take away littlest

OUTLIER- A value that is much larger or smaller then the other data value, the data set may have more then 1 outlier for the following.

example-

outlier for 1,67,68,67,64,65,100 are 1 and 100.

Suzzene's Question !

Her Question: There were 5 chocolate bars in a box. 2 were milk chocolate, 2 were white chocolate and 1 was dark chocolate. Kevin has to pick one of the above. What is the probability of him getting a milk chocolate?

My Answer: Out of the 5 outcomes there are 2 favourable ones. It is written like 2:5, 2/5 or 40%.

I do not agree with Annie because she didn't follow BEDMAS.

Question 2:
Put brackets in the following expression to get the largest value possible . What problem solving strategy did you use ?

Answer:
I did 6.4 divided by 4 = 1.6, then i did 3x 2.8 = 8.4 and then i did 8.4 + 1.6= 10.
