Drawing Angle Bisectors

Drawing Angle Bisectors : Angle bisectors cuts an angle in half.

Method 1: Use a compass.

1.Sharp point on the vertex.
2.Make an arc that intersects both rays of the angle, lable those instructions
3.From two new intersections make two more arcs.
4.With a ruler draw a line from the arc intersect onto the vertex.
5.That line is your angle bisector.
Here is a video on method 1.

Method 2: use a protractor

1.Measure the angle with a protractor.
2.divide the angle measurement by 2.
3.mark the halfway point using the protractor.
4.use a ruler to connect the halfway point to the vertex.
5. That is your (BEAUTIFUL) angle bisector.

Sorry I can't find a video on method 2.
but...

Here is a link on Angle bisectors.

And some pictures.
THANKS FOR LOOKING. PLEASE COMMENT.

SECT-cut
BISECT-to cut in two
PERPENDICULAR BISECTOR

There are three ways to bisect a perpendicular

1st way

1)draw a line segment
2)sharp end of a compass on point A
3)make an ARC slightly larger than half of the length of the line segment.
4)Repeat the process from point B with the same size ARC 5)with a ruler to join the two ARC intersection with a straight line
6) now you have a perpendicular bisector.

HERE IS A DIAGRAM (1st way)

2nd way

1)draw a line segment
2)measure with a ruler
3)divide the measurement by two which is the half way point.
4)use a right triangle to create a perpen
dicular line at the half way point.

diagram (2nd way)3rd way

1)lined segment AB
2)fold paper so point A falls right on top of poi
nt B
3)increase is a perpendicular bisector

Question 1:
Annie has been asked to calculate 1.7 + 6 divided by 2 . She claims the answer is 3.85 . Do you agree ? Explain why or why not.

Answer:
I do not agree with Annie because she didn't follow BED
MAS.

Question 2:
Put brackets in the following expression to get the largest value possible . What problem solving strategy did you use ?

Answer:
I did 6.4 divided by 4 = 1.6, then i did 3x 2.8 = 8.4 and then i did 8.4 + 1.6= 10.

Question 1:AJ has been asked to calculate
(7+3)+8-4
He says that the answer is 14
He is right.
Because he followed BEDMA
S
Remember Bracket

(7+3)=
10
Then after
you do subtraction
8-4=4
Now you add
10 and 4 together
10+4=14

Addition
Subtraction
by doing bed mas through your head a few times you can do an ordinary order operation question easily.

example:
(4+6)+7-5=
you would do the brackets first
4+6=10
so you would go
10+7-5
next you would do addition because its next on BED MAS
if you want to skip a step(but go at your own pace)you would do
10+7-5=12
and there you have the steps to do a perfect order of operation question.

The questions for order of operations:
1. Annie has been asked to calculate 1.7 + 6 / 2. She claims the answer is 3.85. Do you agree? Explain why or why not.
My Answer:I don't agree because BEDMAS wasn't used , the real answer would be 3.7.
2. Put brackets in the following expression to get the largest value possible. What problem solving strategy did you use? 3 x 2.8 + 6.4 / 4
My answer: (3 x 2.8 )+ 6.4 /4 because it all adds up to 10 which is the highest.
Strategy: (3 x 2.8)+ 6.4 / 4 8.4 + 6.4 / 4 8.4 + 1.6
10
3. create a problem that could be solved using the following expressions.
2.5 + 1.25 + 5 * 1.6

S - subtraction

Question 1 :
Annie has been asked to calculate 1.7 + 6 divided by 2 . She claims the answer is 3.85 . Do you agree ? Explain why or why not .

Answer :
I don't think so , because If the answer was 3.85 she would've used "B.E.D.M.A.S." The real answer is 4.7 because : 6 divided by 2 = 3 , + 1.7 = 4.7 .

( You go by level 2 , then level 3 )

Question 2 :
Put brackets in the following expression to get the largest value possible . What probelm solving strategy did you use ?

First , I did division since it is part of Level 2 , then I did multiplication because that's second after division on Level 2 . Finally , I used addition which was part of Level 3 .

Question 3 :
Create a problem that could be solved using the following expression .

2.5 + 1.25 + 5 x 1.6 = 8

Luke's mom's birthday was comming up , and he needed the money to buy her mom one of those pretty necklaces he found at a shop , but the problem was , he only had $2.50 from the money his sister owed her , and $1.25 from his left over change . He had $3.75 . The necklace was $11,75 . He only needed 8 more dollars . One of his friends told him about a job at the small cafe in the city that paid him $1.60 for every hour . His job was to clean up the tables , and clean the dishes after everyone left . He decided to take it since he was only going to be working for a day , after school ended . Luke worked for 5 hours and got the 8 dollars . (5 x 1.6 = 8 ) The very next day , he added the $3.75 and $8.00 together and bought his mom the necklace she hoped for .
